What’s your story?

I am a lifelong learner, deeply passionate about and inspired by nature’s boundless wisdom. Like many women, I’ve navigated the transformative phases of perimenopause and menopause. In my search for answers to ease these life stages, I studied natural skincare formulation, exploring the ways nature can holistically and sustainably support our well-being. With a vision to redefine ageing as a chapter of empowerment and self-love rather than a period of decline, MISEICO was born. More than just products, MISEICO offers sustainable skincare and wellness solutions that are a testament to the belief that age mirrors wisdom, experience, and the beauty of evolution. We champion each individual’s journey, encouraging them to embrace life’s stages with grace, confidence, and a commitment to holistic well-being.

 

How & Why did you start your company/passion work? 

Starting a business is both challenging and rewarding: 1. Trust Your Instincts: Your intuition, honed by your experiences as a woman and possibly a mother, is a powerful tool. Use it to guide your decisions and understand your target audience better. 2. Embrace the Journey: There will be ups and downs, but each challenge presents an opportunity for growth and learning. Celebrate your successes, big or small, and learn from the setbacks. 3. Seek Support: Surround yourself with a strong support system, be it family, friends, or like-minded entrepreneurs. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 4. Balance & Boundaries: It’s essential to set boundaries and prioritise self-care. While passion and determination are vital, so is taking time for yourself and your loved ones. 5. Stay Authentic: Your authenticity will resonate with your audience and set you apart in the marketplace. Stay true to your values and mission.

 

How do you bring BALANCE to your roles as MOTHER: FOUNDER: SELF? 

Balancing the roles of MOTHER:FOUNDER:SELF requires intention, flexibility, and self-awareness. Here’s how I approach it: 1. Prioritize Self-Care: This is foundational. By ensuring I recharge mentally, emotionally, and physically, I can give my best to both my family and my business. Whether it’s a short workout or just some quiet reading time, I make it a point to carve out moments for myself. 2. Time Blocking: Designating specific chunks of time for work, family, and personal pursuits helps create clear boundaries. For instance, setting ‘office hours’ for work and specific quality time for my children ensures that each role receives dedicated attention. 3. Seek Support: I lean on my support system—be it family, friends, or team members—to help manage tasks, provide emotional support, or simply lend a listening ear. 4. Reflect and Adjust: Every week, I reflect on what went well and what didn’t. This helps me adjust my strategies and ensures that no role overshadows the others for an extended period.

 

Any recent accomplishment you would like to share with us? (personal/professional) 

On the professional front, MISEICO recently launched our Aromatherapy Elixirs, a line crafted to support those navigating the challenges of perimenopause and menopause. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing our mission to offer sustainable skincare and wellness solutions and to champion a holistic approach to well-being. On a personal note, I recently completed a mindset course, which not only advanced my personal development but also equipped me with tools to integrate a growth mindset into MISEICO’s brand ethos and product experience. Both of these accomplishments underscore my commitment to continuous learning and growth, both for the benefit of MISEICO’s community and for my personal journey.

The face behind KOVA Branding| MRKT Creative- Jerica Liew

What’s your story?

Frustrated with the rigidity of a corporate work structure, 2020 saw me leaving that world and entering knee-deep into the sect of entrepreneurship. I was particularly fascinated by the world of brand building and design automation, how these are used as a medium to drive impact.

I realised that there was a lot of noise in the branding and marketing world, a lot of promoting but not enough listening. Often, the solutions are right there when we listen, and I found solace in helping founders to convey their thoughts in a visual-forward manner that brings their purpose to life.

I launched my first business KOVA with the intention of exploring branding as a medium to drive impact.

Following KOVA’s principle of providing only what is essential for a holistic strategy and visual identity, I proceeded to launch MRKT, a design automation studio with a central goal of empowering female entrepreneurs and small business owners. The intersection of gender and entrepreneurship was another gap in the industry I wanted to help. MRKT is designed as an intuitive platform allowing founders to automate the creation of digital assets necessary to grow their brands.

 

 

What would you like to say to fellow mothers or women thinking of starting a business?

Just do it! Launch that product, purchase that course, pick up that book. We always convince ourselves out of doing the things that we don’t realise will bring us the most fulfilment. Start before you feel ready.

Who is Shaily Sharda from Escential the Body Tonic?

Balance to me isn’t an everyday equal split. Some days the mother trumps, some days the founder and other times the self! When each part is addressed with honesty and complete dedication of being present in that moment, balance is achieved because the whole feels fulfilled. It’s not easy, takes so much conscious practice and yet there are times when you lose perspective. That is the moment to remind yourself and reset to move on.

Entrepreneurship is a tough & at times lonely yet extremely busy journey. As you navigate the early days, in addition to a solid business plan, you must have an equally amazing support system that will have your back in the most difficult moments. So the mother in you can forge ahead knowing that her world is cared for while she realizes her dreams.

Who is Ashin Alexia from Alexia’s oils?

As Ashin shares her story:

I found my passion for aromatherapy at 18, and experienced its amazing effects for ailments, skin issues, and hair issues.

But it was only after becoming a mum, I realized how quickly the gaps in modern medicine can be closed with aromatherapy. Our oils are cruelty-free and ethically sourced from Australia and each bottle is hand blended with love in Singapore.

In 2022, I found out I was expecting and life took a whole new direction. My body wasn’t in the best shape. I got married and morning sickness was a whole day of sickness for me that pretty much lasted till I gave birth.

The one thing that gave me solace during my pregnancy was my recovery blend as it helped me with all my aches. And I discovered that a lot of pregnant mommas were using it for their backaches as well! Going through C-sec resulted in me having to really sit back and REST! During that time, I kept thinking if I should go back to work because now with a child expenses will definitely increase. And honestly having a stable income seemed like the most reasonable thing at the time.

During this conundrum, is when my newborn fell sick and I rushed him to the hospital and spent over 3 hours carrying him around just to be informed that he is TOO young and there isn’t any medication that can be given. All we can do is monitor. As a mother, I couldn’t accept that. I came home and started researching using aromatherapy for babies. I barely slept for a week because every opportunity I got I was on my phone doing research or taking care of my newborn. Then came the testing of the products. Tried different combinations to get a scent I liked without compromising the holistic properties of the oils! And then my son started using the oils.

And I’m happy to report that I never brought him to the doctor for flu after that. His immunity also became stronger and with that the baby range was created. With that I knew that Alexia’s Oils was here to stay and there was no way I was going to give this up to return back to the workforce. Thats how my story started. 

Deep down I always knew that I wanted to be a stay at home mum, but I constantly require my mind to be stimulated. By being a founder and mother, I am able to live my dream of owning a business that I am extremely passionate about while being able to see my son grow up through his various stages.
